Elected Hypocrisy

by Archived Article (2001–2014) Help
I think most people here know my feelings as far as politics and war. So the following item really requires no further commentary by me, save stating that I hope if things get really bad, the powers that be have what alcoholics call "a moment of clarity" right before the atomic shockwave hits their smugness. Maybe then they will realise that they are pissing on the ideals upon which this country was founded in the search for a safer America and world, at the cost of non-American's, hell even now our own citizens' freedom, liberty and inalienable rights to exist how they choose, not how "we" picture they should be.

So now, near the anniversary of the Gulf War, on the heels of our other blunders around the world in the name of freedom and democracy and as we send more and more American troops into foreign lands where we are not invited, comes the following from the Commander In Chief.

Per the President of the United States of America, George W. Bush, a proclamation that 20 January 2003 be National Sanctity of Human Life Day. [ proclaimation ]

21 January 2003: "Ok, now that we have taken care of that, lets start World War III."

I think that's got more to do with abortion than anything else. Talk about a need for separation of church and state.

January 21st is now "Muchos Muchos Grande Pantutos Day."

  • David July

Oh, most definitely. It wonderfully proclaims that the government of this country will put so much effort into making abortion illegal "saving unborn human lives," whilst preparing to obliterate several countries and cultures.

ok ideals on which we were founded. let's back this party up. You know America was discovered and established by men who would whatever it takes to make there ideals known and "screw" anyone who opposes them. first,Columbus, well this pioneer needs little explaination. He enslaved, raped, and piliged the indigenous people. The Pilgrams, a group of pshco christian militants who also, raped and piliged the people on the land they wanted. The original colonists, over threw the gov who had bankrolled the discovery and developement of America just bc they chanded there minds about following a far away gov's order. They weren't even the most "oppressed" of the colonies under limey control. They were just man enough to thow off the shakles. And the coo didn't consist of hand shakes and liberal slap ass contests. they shot and killed, in often a gorilla (and ungentlemenly) fashion, proper english soldiers. you know this goes on and on. i'll stop the examples with saying Manifest Destiny wasn't exactly sensitive to indians or mexicans. But the founders of our way of life say it neccesary and they were right. We are pioneers. it's why we love guns and keep the right of our citizens to bare them. If you don't want an isolationist foriegn policy sometimes you need to perform a few regime changes for the good of the order of the world. And even if we had one we'd just get sucked into things that force us out of it anyway. Those who oppose Bush's war are exercising there american rights but aren't americans at all. I mean even the UN inspectors caught him in a lie. he deserves all he gets. woohoo cheaper oil baby

  • David July

I appreciate your commentary but I am not going to further this debate by making counterpoints. What I wrote is how I feel. Our actions against the world are wrong.

I did like the following article: [ article ]

I'm curious... what is an american to you, Ricky? You say those people who oppose Bush's war are exercising their american rights but aren't americans. So if they aren't then who is? Where do you draw the line?

    Matticus

From tyler_durden: We are pioneers. it's why we love guns and keep the right of our citizens to bare them.

...to 'bare' what? Couldn't resist Hey... how 'bout this one... have YOU ever carried a weapon in our country's defense? Served in the Armed Forces? ok... didn't think so. How about this one... how many Veterans do you believe support war?

Quote: If you don't want an isolationist foriegn policy sometimes you need to perform a few regime changes for the good of the order of the world.

Hmmm... da comrade.. errr, I mean ... ja mein Fuhrer!

Quote: Those who oppose Bush's war are exercising there american rights but aren't americans at all.

I'd be curious to hear your definition of 'American'

    Lemmings following their leader blindly?

  • bastard

nyet, nada... no. No support for Bush Junior in this corner, mate. Too freaky for me.

  • FSUpaintball

That's what I'm saying. I hate the Bush administration.

  • Tyler_Durden

an american fights to preserve his/her way of life. an american doesn't back down from a good fight. an american follows through on a threat. an american isn't worried about being sensitive to the weak minded. f-ing panty wasted liberals.

great americans: well of course TJ, Andrew Jackson, those who stand up for their beliefs and don't worry about their detractors.
non-americans: well of course Dr.Laura, those who decide that the blind pursuit of peace with out actions against would be dispatchers is a wise course of action.

history has taught us that any society that makes peace it's primary obective encourages agressors and falls.

  • FSUpaintball

My ass. That's called being an asshole. It's sad if that's what being an American has come to, and I think 85% of the people in this country would agree. Which by your definition, would make you un-american.

  • Tyler_Durden

First of all Matt i love the source of your 85% poll. second that in no way excludes me. and if 85% of the voting country agrees then why is our president, our elected leader of the free world, want this. same with Powell. his admin faces re-election and they wouldn't piss off 85% of america before an election...or it does piss off the entire voting country but for reasons beyond the comprehention of the average american this is necessary. or do you believe the leftist media has provided you with all the tools you need to correctly make this decision for the country. it's the 80's all over again. a visionary pres needed to win the arms race to collapse a foe and all the hairy hippies and bunny huggers protested, to no avail btw. and in the end we developed the most sophisticated weaponry and defense system in the world. making all future wars a nintendo esc cake walk...so go ahead hippies bitch moan and scream and let the adults handle what must be done. baby will get there bottle later.

  • bastard

Dude, I sat off the coast of the Soviet Union with Soviet bombers and fighters and warships all around because that so called visionary president wanted to make a statement. Well, he made his statement... now he's wearing depends and doesn't know his first name.

  • Tyler_Durden

What are you trying to say with that? yeah he's old and is having mental problems now. wow big deal. doesn't change the genious and vision he had in office. and please hippies no crap about signs of age while in office. we have all seen snl. basing your political views on comic exageration is just pathetic.

  • David July

If those are the qualities of being an American, then I am not one. Sending our troops to a foreign country that we muscled into following strict restrictions (which they are now being condemned for) to fight a battle with an enemy that has yet to throw the first punch is offensive. Spending trillions of dollars outside of our country when that money is so badly needed to help our programs, people and economy is ridiculous. What we are suggesting doing varies little from what England did in the past, causing the formation of our very country.

Iraq is oil. Oil is money. The current administration made a good amount of their fortune via oil. Pro-war people have said that lower oil prices can be expected after we invade Iraq. They say this is a good thing for our country and economy. You know, if it was not for all of the rich, powerful politicians in office making so much money off of oil, we would not be using it anymore. It is obsolete. Cleaner, cheaper and more efficient energy systems exist today and are only not proliferated due to their existence's impact on oil. If these new energy types were put out on to the open market, lots of powerful people would suddenly not be quite so rich and powerful.

Finally, let us all remember to continue this in an adult manner and not let it degrade as these conversations often do in the online world.

  • Tyler_Durden

oh i see...you are unfamiliar with Iraq's offenses. Well first off there was this attack on some building in New York...i think the twin towers were damaged or something...yeah well they directly supported the people who did that. Next, our intelligemce knows sadam is hording weapons and they just wanted proof for the rest of the world. so they (the UN)sent in these inspectors recently, and even without using intelligence from any country (to give sadam every cheat possible) still found proof he had stock piled weapons AND LIED TO THE WORLD! oh oh also he is an oppressive dictator who murders and keeps his people in perpetual poverty so if you are concerned with human rights on any level you should want them free. hmmmmm let me see oh in a recent speech he advocated a jihad against the US. because anyone who dies for him will "turn into a green bird and fly to paradise". and also any american agressor will "die at our gates" so he is being a little less then cuddly there.
this goes on and on. just know he is a bad bad man and for the greater good of the human race and world politics he should be put to sleep. i know it's not as fun as making protest signs and pouting about war and free love but sometimes the grown ups have to do things that baby can't understand. but baby will thank them later. if you are against this war you are simply uninformed on what Sadam has done and how he treats his people. to say you care about human life and peace and against this war then...um...you've gotta be a special kind of slow.
but keep protesting and attacking the decision to go to war. it's cute

  • David July

No, I am not uninformed, I simply have a different opinion. And thank you, I will continue to disagree and not support the efforts being made by my government against my beliefs.

I think we have all spoken our minds sufficiently on this topic.
