Theatre Review: Underneath the Lintel
I had the opportunity to catch the
Orlando Theatre Project preview night showing of Underneath the Lintel, a one-man play written by Glen Berger, following the personal investigation of a Dutch librarian as he discovers many curious coincidences linked to a library book returned over one-hundred years past due.
Starring
Kristian Truelsen, who directed the OTP production of
Copenhagen,
Underneath the Lintel is an obsessive-compulsive's account of how something seemingly insignificant can really grab ones attention and alter the focus of their life. As he begins to look into writing left behind in the book returned 113 years late, the Librarian uncovers a series of clues which lead him down a path he would have never considered before. Solitude and order run this man's life and as he begins to observe what appears to be a series of unrelated incidents, his life is turned upside down.
Meticulous and comedic,
Underneath the Lintel does tend to drag out slightly in a few sections but due in no part to the performance or direction. Riddled with great dialogue, a slide-show to help take you along the Librarian's world journey to find the truth and a few key props, this relatively short (approximate runtime: one and a half hours) and non-intermissioned play is as unexpected as it is entertaining. If you would like an evening of non-traditional entertainment and care to support local arts, be sure to look into
Underneath the Lintel.

MIX 105.1 FM: Free Gas Friday
The last time I tried to take advantage of a local radio station's free or reduced gasoline event I arrived too late at the locations. We will consider that attempt a trial run. I just got home from the MIX 105.1 FM Scott and Erica Show's "
Free Gas Friday" event at the 7-Eleven located at 496 East State Road 434. I was one of the two first cars in line to receive ten (10) gallons of fuel absolutely free, not to mention a free Slurpee® to enjoy. Only 105 vehicles would get the chance for the free gas giveaway.
I arrived shortly after 1300 this afternoon only to find I had gotten to the location before the radio station personnel. As soon as the Longwood Police officers arrived to direct traffic, the two side-by-side lines started forming and I was officially given the "2" placard. Being at the front of the line afforded me the opportunity to record some radio drops about the event, chat on camera with
WKMG Local 6 News and have the honour of having my gas pumped and windows washed by MIX
on-air personalities Jay Edwards, Jeff Cushman and Laura Francis. I was not anticipating the event to be televised so I did not do my hair, shave or wear something more photogenic. Oh well!
As soon as they are published I will post copies of or links to the pictures taken at the event. Oh and note that I am posting this after the event as opposed to before, where search engine visitors may have ended up beating me out. Every Thursday during the month of May, MIX will announce a new location where this free gas event will take place next.
Regularly Scheduled Programming
After an entire week of vacation, relaxation and personal rejuvenation I am back to Orlando with a renewed sense of purpose. I am ready to start working on my various projects and goals again.
After having it online for a month now I have decided to redevelop my business website again, instead choosing an alternate design I recently developed. The concept is only on paper but I have been eager to get to the coding and implementation of this new site. My ever ongoing plans to produce, duplicate and distribute advertising materials will be done in the next week. And finally I am going to start implementing some new billing procedures to make sure I am never again in the financial situation I am experiencing.
I also promise to write more about my Key West and Tallahassee trips, not to mention upload pictures from both. I need to finish going through countless boxes and other junk I have, throwing away much of it so that I can redecorate my living quarters.
And of course, the big kahuna of them all: I need a new day job. Information services, legal administration, office manager and much more. I have many talents and would be a valuable asset to your company. Please check out my resume and hire me!
I know it has only been a little over one day since I got back from Key West, but I am leaving again. This time to the capitol Tallahassee for graduation at
Florida State University. I will be gone through Sunday. And do not worry: the Key West stories and photographs are coming really soon.
Hello everyone! I am having a great time so far. I will be sure to write all about the trip when I get back Wednesday evening. Until then here is
a picture of me last night captured by Erik. It is he I am on the telephone with in the photo and I was a little intoxicated at the time. Hey, this is Key West!
